I like characters who seem cute, silly, goofy and much frailer than their peers on first glance, joke around a lot, but actually have hellishly painful lives riddled with self-doubt and lonliness/abandonment issues and suffer through it all with a smile, simply because they love their friends so much and want to be strong for them.

I admire the enormous mental strength of these characters. I want to be like them. I want my determination to be there for the ones I want to be with to stand above all my fears and weaknesses.

And when anybody insults these characters for taking nothing serious, being Mary Sues, having ‘no personality’, being ‘annoying’ or, god forbid, getting in the way of pairings, I swear I will defend them to the death.

Well…

Anonymous sent: Xion.

My first impressions of them.

“Umm… Kinda bland… Does she do anything special? I mean, she seems nice enough, but… huh, I was expecting a more striking personality. Is she even gonna stick on my mind…?”

(OH GOD I DID NOT KNOW.)

What I think of their design.

A bit bland and I have an eternal vendetta going on with the Organization’s black coats, but pretty cute and fine otherwise~

What I think of their role in the story.

Very well done! She tied neatly into everything, filled a few Characterdevelopement-holes for Roxas and, especially, Axel, that were direly needed to make their dynamics seem more believable, created wonderful scenes and generally just was a great way of establishing KH’s extended concept of humanity and how to attain it even further! She was very human and relatable in her actions and emotions. It would have been even better done had 358/2 Days been an OVA or used a different system for character’s facial expressions! Emotions played such a big part in the plot, it really hurt how derpy her face looked in the original 358/2…

What I think of their interactions with other characters.

Her interactions with Roxas and Axel were amazing in how they gradually changed, became more and more complex and sincere and really showed how she, too, begann to develope a more complex grasp on happiness and sadness, togetherness and solitude. I actually like her interactions with Axel almost better than those with Roxas, since he was the closest thing to a parent she ever had. It was heart-warming. Roxas was more of a brother-figure, on the same level as her in communication.

My favorite aspect of the character overall.

Her humanity with all it’s flaws and weaknesses, her balance between independance and dependance, the realism behind her actions and choices and the depth in her struggle in finding out how much about her identity and emotional world is truely “her own”. (That’s more than one, but screw it.)

What could have been improved or changed with regards to the character.

She should have had more cutscenes with Facial Motions from the very beginning, since seeing those was just of extreme importance for her character and the lack of them really, REALLY took away from how much I could relate to her on first playthough.

And, yeah, I still find her design a bit bland.

My number one wish for this character.

That one day she will be able to just enjoy a happy and free, normal life with her loved ones in a place where their only suffering will be that of normal, everyday humans.

Sketch of my current three favorite characters, period, clothing-swapping/cosplaying as each other.
Trucy (Ace Attorney) > Xion (Kingdom Hearts) > Teddie (Persona 4) > Trucy > etc.
Teddie is probably the happiest out of the three in this party, since he loves Ice Cream and Panties and these girls provide him with both, additionally to being quite the lookers themselves. Will probably make this a full, digital picture somewhere in the next few days. Might use it as Blog Banner then.

I really despise Xion

That’s OK.

and I don’t understand why anyone likes her.

Because she has good qualities and a very human personality and traits that many people either find adorable or can identify with. It’s completly normal that there’s people who like her and you should really, really reevaluate your priorities in Fandom if people liking different characters than you do bothers you so much. Don’t waste your time on the stuff you don’t like, enjoy yourself with the stuff you do like.

She was a useless plot point that was completely unnecessary

Oh boy, this again. First of all, she’s a character, not a plotpoint. Why does she need a “use”? Is she a tool? She’s got a really important role: She helps establishing how “the birth of a personality/heart” works in the KH Universe. Unlike the Nobodies, who have a base personality to go off, Xion starts as a complete blank with a little kickstart from Sora’s image of Kairi. She’s vastly interesting because she’s like a field study of “How to create a living, feeling human with individuality and a sense of self”.

Aside from that, she also vastly helped developing what could have potentially been a very 2-dimensional story about Roxas and Axel’s friendship, helps explaining why Roxas started questioning stuff in first place, aides with showing off the true cruelty of Organization 13… etc. etc. etc….

I don’t really see this “Useless” you speak of. Maybe the definition of the word changed in the last 24 hours? That’s the only explanation I can think of for this.

Also, Redundant Department of Redundancy… Department.

and I hope to god she stays gone.

“I don’t like cherry pie, I hope cherry pie ceases to exist, I don’t care if there’s a million other people who like cherry pie and want to continue eating it and that I could just *not* eat it and leave everyone who wants to be, if I hate it then, obviously, it is a bad thing and needs to be purged from the face of the world and that’s why Cherry Pie obviously must cease to exist.”

“Yea, we wept, when we remembered” - A forgotten meaning of Xion’s name.

In the wake of KH 1.5 and all the 358/2 Days related glory that came with it, I have decided to talk about something I have been meaning to talk about for a while - Xion’s name.

Now, “Neni,” you might say “Hasn’t the topic of the symbolism behind this name already been talked about again and again, over and over?”

Well, yes, it is true, that meanings like “Shion”, the flower of remembrance and “Shio”, tide (And also, just so you know it “Salt”) have been covered over and over. However, one meaning has, interestingly, never been touched by any analysis I have read yet. The fact that, in japanese, Xion’s name is spelt and pronounced identically to Zion”.

Christmas with some of my favorite Fandom Cuties, Trucy, Teddie and Xion~
The inspiration to draw something Christmas-y with those three just suddenly hit me, and so I sat down and doodled away.
I have a story about this pic in mind, but I want you all to interprete it as you want, so I won’t tell unless someone asks me~.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!
I sketched Personas for Trucy Wright (Ace Attorney) and Xion (Kingdom Hearts)

I’ve spent a lot of time pondering about what it would be like if characters from my other Fandoms were in a Persona game lately. This is part of the result.

So far, I have come up with Personas for characters from Ace Attorney, Kingdom Hearts and Madoka Magica, but these two are the first ones I actually sketched down: Thalia (Persona of Trucy Wright) and Pandora (Persona of No.14, Xion).

I thought a long time about these two to make sure they fit their owners, but more thought obviously went into Thalia’s design. X’D With Pandora, I was mostly just going for a foreboding and unsettling appearance, while not being ugly.

I choose Thalia for Trucy because she’s a muse, a goddess of (preformance) arts and always portrayed with a comic mask, which fits what we know about Trucy’s personality very much. I have an Ultimate Persona for Trucy too, Hecate, but I didn’t sketch that one yet.

This one hit me suddenly and I squeed about how perfect Pandora is for Xion. Pandora was created from clay with the sole intend to cause evil, in the end, however, the only real evil she unleashed was unintentional. The calamity was unpreventable, yet hope remained. Really, the perfect Persona for Xion. No Ultimate Persona here yet, though. (And if you wonder why she’s holding a jar; the “box” is actually a mistranslation. >_> It was a jar!)

So much from me and my random Crossover ideas for now.

Xion is perfect.

…Though, the last sentence kinda hurts…
